Last weekend I glittered a branch I'd been saving for a while. I intend to eventually send this to Grandma so she can hang it in her dining room. (I'll post pictures of the finished product when I'm done.) Ans somehow it excited my girls so much they decided to glitter popsicle sticks.

Then...Cassi, Cori and her friend Alli immediately when into full fairy action and decided to start making fairy houses. These probably aren't your typical average fairy houses but to them they are every bit as wonderful as any you might have ever seen before. They worked on these for hours.

Then Cori and Alli gathered everything up and took the stuff to Alli's house, while Cassi and I went to a end of season soccer get together, and they worked on them some more.

They have created houses, secret rooms, bridges, decks, furniture and so much more. Everything is glittered to the high heavens. There are flower and bead adornments everywhere.

This evening, it was so gorgeous outside, we finally managed to make a place for them just beyond our front window around the tree there.

And then, if you can imagine, we had to have a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of The Last Frontier Fairies. Yeah I know, I could hardly believe it myself.

I really wanted to get video but Cassi's had no battery and we can't find Cori's camera at the moment. :(

I was so sure there would be a great speech that I could share and of course Cori did give a wonderful speech.

Cassi was in charge of cutting the ribbon which she performed so confident and delegate-like.

Cali's part of the celebration was to provide bubbles which she decided to do with the all-but-empty dish soap bottle. Tiny bubbles were all they were looking for since it was for fairies after all.

It was a grand celebration and I was truly so glad I was invited. I wish you all could have attended. I am not really sure how long these homes will last since winter will be upon us soon enough but then of course that just gives us a new project for the future. Fairy ice houses. :)

In all seriousness, do you remember a time in your life where you could have just as easily lived through something so magical. I can. And I loved it. I was about the same age as my girls if I recall. I bought a little (3-4 inches tall) stuffed dog at an Octoberfest in Georgia. I came home and made him a house from a box. A dining table, kitchen, bedroom with furniture, curtains on the windows, the complete package. What I wouldn't give to have it now. I've actually told my girls about it. I still have the dog and I remember those days of creating that world fondly.

I am not sure if the girls are hanging on to their youth, if they are imagining the lives ahead of them through play, maybe they are just being the girls they are supposed to be and its me that is hanging on looking for every excuse to keep them young.

It is my hope that they someday remember these days and look back on them equally as fondly as I do mine. And I do hope they remember how excited I was to attend such a grand ceremony.

By the way, if you have any extra glitter lying around, I could use some. Mine is all gone. :)
